Your season

“Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”‭-(‭Psalms‬ ‭1:1-3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

As I’m doing my morning study with God, I came across this gem of a scripture. This is a promise. A promise of a blessed life for those who choose to joyfully surrender to God completely, walking with Him, listening to His Spirit directing your path, and obeying Him. For me, meditating on God’s law is reading and studying out His word everyday, staying in constant prayer and praise towards Him and keeping an open ear to hear what the Holy Spirit is telling me in every situation.

Like a tree planted by the rivers of water

If I am rooted in the Lord then I am always full, always fed. I am never dry or empty. Regardless of the seasons, regardless of the circumstances, I am okay. I am more than okay, I am surviving and thriving because I am directly accessing the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Regardless of the tiring valleys we trek through, the dry, scorching deserts we journey, or the breezy, majestic mountains we stand on this is the blessed life we can have when we are rooted in God!

“Brings forth fruit in its season

Eth’ is the Hebrew word that was used for the three English words “in its season”. ‘Eth’ means always, certain, continually, evening, long. This word is also connected to the Hebrew word ‘ad’ which means eternal or forever.

When God is your provision and foundation you will bear fruit forever. At night when you can’t see what lies ahead, in the long drought that dries up everything around you, even then you will be blessed and fruitful.

So what does fruitful mean exactly? Well we have constant access to the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). But let’s see what is exactly stated in this particulate scripture about what our fruit will also look like:

“And whatever he does shall prosper.”

The Hebrew word used here for ‘prosper’ is ‘tsaleach’ and it means always, successful, advanced, thrive, useful, and victoriously.

Living surrender and plugged into God through Jesus Christ means we are victorious. We are successful no matter the failures. We get try again. We are advanced and moving forward. We are intelligent because we have on the mind of Christ. We are not just surviving, but we are thriving. We are not living lives merely beneficial to ourselves but our very essence is useful; useful to God, His kingdom, and His people.

God is showing us that regardless of what we see in the physical realm, spiritually, we are blessed. Now because of the authority we have in Christ who is seated at the right hand of God’s throne AND alive within us, if we are blessed spiritually then we are blessed physically. We can boldly bind up the chaos and destruction we are seeing and claim the inherited blessing into our physical lives.

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.”-(Ephesians‬ ‭1:19-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”- (‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬)
